Collection: Flower Delivery to NYC Health + Hospitals / Metropolitan
Send Flowers to Metropolitan Hospital, East Harlem's Own
Metropolitan Hospital stands at 1901 First Avenue, between East 97th and 99th Streets, and here's a happy coincidence: that's our avenue too. Our flower shop sits at 1121 First Avenue, forty blocks straight south, which means a bouquet for Metropolitan travels one road, no turns, no bridges, typically reaching the hospital within two to four hours of your order.
We build every arrangement hospital-ready, confirm what the patient's unit allows before a stem is cut, and hand-carry it up the avenue with same-day delivery across every borough. Order online any hour, or call (212) 933-0151 and a florist will take it from there.
About NYC Health + Hospitals / Metropolitan, Serving This City Since 1875
Some hospitals advertise their history. Metropolitan simply has it.
This hospital has cared for East Harlem since 1875, and its partnership with New York Medical College is the oldest hospital-medical school affiliation in the United States, a century and a half of teaching and healing on the same blocks. Today it's a full-service community hospital of roughly 330 beds, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health system in the country, standing right where East Harlem meets Yorkville.
It's the hospital of the neighborhood: the place where El Barrio's babies arrive, where its grandmothers recover, where care speaks the languages of the community it serves. We're proud every time our flowers walk through its doors.
Why Flowers Mean a Little More at a Public Hospital
Here's something florists know and rarely say out loud. Patients at the city's famous private hospitals receive flowers constantly. Patients at public hospitals receive fewer, not because they're loved less, but because life is busy and money is real.
Which means your delivery to Metropolitan does something extra. A bouquet arriving in a room that wasn't expecting one isn't just flowers; it's proof that somebody stopped their day. We've watched it happen, and it never gets old.
And because every budget deserves that moment, we build beautiful arrangements at every price, and each one, modest or grand, gets the same fresh stems, the same florist's hands, and the same careful trip up the avenue.
How to Send Flowers to an NYC Health + Hospitals Patient
Sending flowers to any NYC Health + Hospitals location works the same simple way, and Metropolitan is the one we know best.
Tell us three things: the patient's full name, the hospital, and the unit or room if you know it; the front desk and our couriers handle the rest.
We check first. Like all hospitals, Metropolitan protects certain patients, ICUs and some units can't accept fresh flowers, so we confirm with the floor before building. If flowers can't enter, you'll know before you've spent anything.
We hand-deliver, as close to the patient as the hospital allows, coordinated and signed for, never left to chance.
What We Build for Metropolitan's Rooms
A hospital room rewards a particular kind of arrangement, and ours are built for it: compact enough for a bedside table, arriving in their own vase, gently scented for shared rooms, and colored like good news. Our bright get-well bouquets lead most Metropolitan orders, and where a unit restricts flowers, cheerful mylar balloons carry the smile through instead, latex never enters a hospital. Tell us the situation, a recovery, a new baby on the maternity floor, a long stay, and we'll build to it.
East Harlem Flowers, In and Out of the Hospital
Our couriers don't turn around at the hospital doors. The same runs carry birthday flowers to the towers and walk-ups of the upper 90s and 100s, welcome-home bouquets to patients just discharged, and thank-you arrangements to the neighbors who helped a family through a hard month. East Harlem is part of our flower delivery throughout Manhattan, every block, every day.
Forty Blocks Up Our Own Avenue
Every Metropolitan delivery starts at our flower shop, Black Petals, at 1121 First Avenue, and travels one straight road north, the shortest possible path between a cooler and a bedside. It's the same standard we bring to our full hospital delivery map across the city: policy checked, front desk coordinated, flowers upright the whole way.
One avenue. Two addresses. A delivery that feels like a neighbor dropping by, because it is. Call (212) 933-0151 whenever you're ready.
Metropolitan Hospital Deliveries, Asked and Answered
Can I send flowers to a patient at Metropolitan Hospital?
Yes. Give us the patient's full name and, if you know it, the unit or room at 1901 First Avenue, and we hand-deliver in line with the hospital's guidelines, coordinating with the front desk on arrival.
How fast can flowers reach Metropolitan?
Typically within two to four hours, because our shop sits forty blocks down the same First Avenue. Order before our daily cutoff and same-day is standard.
What's allowed in patient rooms there?
Most general floors welcome flowers; ICUs and certain units don't, for patient protection. We confirm with the unit before building, and pivot to a mylar balloon or a home delivery if needed.
Do you deliver to other NYC Health + Hospitals locations?
All of them, Bellevue, Gouverneur, and every H+H facility across the five boroughs, with the same check-first care.
I want to send something meaningful without spending a lot. Options?
Always. We build lovely compact arrangements at friendly prices, and at a hospital room, the gesture outweighs the size every time.
Can you also deliver to a home in East Harlem?
Every day, welcome-homes after discharge, birthdays in the upper 90s and 100s, and everything between. If the address is in East Harlem, we're forty blocks away.
